Reiki operates in the underlying energy structure of matter, as the physical matter we see around us is a solidified form of energy. Reiki works by allowing positive energy to flow into the recipient’s body on different levels. This positive energy works to remove blockages, strengthen the body’s Ki, and smooth the entire energy. It also raises the clarity and frequency of the recipient’s energy. It works to return a person into their greatest wholeness. Ki flows through the body along the meridians, nadis, and chakras. It forms an energy field around the body that we call an aura. It flows to the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and all other parts of our bodies. In a completely well balanced, healthy, happy person with no past attachments or future fears, the Ki flows with ease. When there is emotional upset, physical pain, mental worry, etc. the flow is hindered creating dis-ease. Even a single negative thought affects the way our energy flows. Reiki heals dis-ease because it flows through these areas of stagnation and charges them with positive energy. It restores balance and positive energy flow to the body. Reiki is usually done in sessions called treatments. A Reiki treatment usually consists of the Reiki practitioner laying their hands on (or near) different positions on the recipient’s body. A full treatment lasts about forty-five minutes to an hour and a half. The recipient usually feels a steady flow of heat throughout the session. It usually feels very relaxing, leaving them feeling both relaxed and energized. As Reiki works on more than just the physical, sometimes a treatment can bring up current or past emotional issues as well. Do not worry if you become emotional during a treatment. Treatments are also usually given in a calm meditative environment, but that doesn’t mean that talking will in any way change the treatment. If you feel the need to talk about something, then please do so. It may be that talking about a thought or worry will help to release it from your body. When getting a Reiki treatment, the Reiki energy flows through the practitioner before leaving the hands and flowing into the client. Because of this, the practitioner receives a treatment also.
