Reiki has roots more than 5,000 years old, traced back through The Medicine Buddha Path. The modern form has most of the Buddhist religion removed from it. Yet it is still a very strong form of healing.

Reiki is a Japanese word that means “Divinely Guided Universal Life Force Energy”. It is a way of healing, of living, and of being. It can bring your life into accord with your soul’s purpose.

Energy from the Universe moves through the healer to work on the client. The energy of the healer is not used. More energy flows in than can flow out. This lets both the healer and the client receive a session at the same time.

Anyone can learn to be a Reiki healer. It is a system passed from teacher to student in rituals. The rituals last from 20-60 minutes. Then it is simple to learn the series of hand positions for giving a healing session.

There are three degrees in Reiki. You are able to use the Reiki energy after the First degree. There are four parts for the First degree ritual. There are two parts for the Second and a final part for the Third.

A Reiki session lasts 30-45 minutes. The person getting Reiki lies on their back for half the session and their stomach for the rest of the session. It is done clothed. The healer puts their hands in a series of spots along the client’s body and holds each position 3-5 minutes.

Reiki cannot cause harm. It never runs out. It brings balance and peace to the body, mind, heart, and soul. It works with the body’s energy to get rid of jams that cause disease. It can relax and lower stress. It is a great way to lower pain. It is one of the few forms of natural healing. It is one of few forms that do not take years to learn. Reiki can be a benefit to us all.
